“ Friendly, noisy, fun place for excellent barbecue with good side dishes. Interesting to figure out how to order by the pound. ”
“ Armadillo BBQ attracted us w it's name & the old school truck out front - but the funny surprise was seeing their outdoor chalkboard read "Come in and try the worst sandwich that some guy on Yelp has had in his entire life!". I didn't end up getting a sandwich but can't imagine it was that bad. Instead - go with the Snake Plate if you're hungry but not too hungy - otherwise the portions there seem like any other bbq place - large and in charge. Inside had a slow vibe to it on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and the chill blues playlist was spot-on too. The waitress/cook had some funny sarcasm in the way she took our orders, and the random collection of artwork hanging up caught my attention too. Seems like the go-to BBQ place if you find yourself in the small town of Duvall. ”
“ As a kid growing up in Wood-ville the painted window jokes at Armadillo made me laugh and filled me with a morbid curiosity about their food. Did they really serve roadkill? Or that one about having sanitary napkins, why did that make my mom laugh so hard? Could a place like that have good food? It took me over twenty years to find out. After a walk down memory lane to visit Duvall Books I took my dear to the Armadillo for lunch. Their sense of humor hasn't changed ("We endeavor to be adequate" is their motto). What struck me is that you could tell this was real BBQ. The meat was smoked and the sauce had that homemade tang. We both had the pork sandwich and shared a hot link. And it was great. I am so glad I finally went. ”
